Project Manager - Neighbourhoods Nurturing Nature

Worcestershire Wildlife Trust

Location

Droitwich, Worcestershire | United Kingdom

Job description

Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is looking for someone to lead our exciting new project to support communities in helping wildlife in their neighbourhoods. You’ll be organised and passionate - able to plan delivery, identify opportunities, inspire your team and enthuse communities about how to help wildlife

Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading local charity working towards a county rich in wildlife. With the support of our volunteers and members, we manage over 3,000 acres of land for wildlife and people across Worcestershire. We work with organisations and landowners to protect and connect wildlife sites across the county. We also work with and inspire local communities and young people to care for wildlife where they live.

Our Neighbourhoods Nurturing Nature project centres on the River Salwarpe to River Severn corridor, encompassing Droitwich Spa, Fernhill Heath, Worcester and Kempsey. This corridor features a variety of natural landscapes, such as rivers, canals, parks, grasslands, and woodlands, all of which host crucial habitats and species. It is rich in opportunities to support and encourage local communities to take action for nature in their own neighbourhoods.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Project Manager to oversee a small team that will be responsible for delivering a range of community engagement activities, events and workshops to help connect more people with their local open spaces. The project aims to provide people with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to take action for wildlife on their local patch. The post holder will be responsible for planning the project delivery, identifying opportunities to engage and support local people, as well as managing two project staff members.

Community engagement is an essential part of the Trust’s work. We believe that involving local people is crucial for the restoration and recovery of nature in Worcestershire. Our approach is simple, we listen to what communities want for their open spaces and work together to break down barriers. By doing this, we create opportunities for people to engage with their local wild places, learn more about the wildlife around them and take action to protect it.

We are looking for someone who is highly personable, passionate and organised. You are committed to supporting community-driven action, at ease when it comes to building relationships in communities and equally adept at leading a small team. This role offers you the opportunity to make a real difference in the restoration of nature and to contribute to our vision of protecting 30% of land and sea by 2030.

The role will be largely based at Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, Lower Smite Farm, Hindlip, Worcester WR3 8SZ with regular travel throughout Worcester, Droitwich and the surrounding areas. Some evening and regular weekend work will be required and a full driving licence is essential. This is a full-time, 35 hours per week position on a three-year fixed-term contract.

We’re  Wild About Inclusion . To us, this means inspiring, empowering and engaging people from all backgrounds, cultures, identities and abilities to change the natural world for the better. It also means cultivating inclusive workspaces that are free from discrimination, where differences are valued and everyone can be themselves and flourish, just like nature!

Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is one of 46 Wildlife Trusts working across the UK.
