Job description
Police Care UK traces its roots back to 1926 as the merger of the charities Police Dependants’ Trust and the National Police Fund. Our mission is to reduce the impact of harm on police and their families. Our offices are in Woking, Surrey.
The Charity is undergoing a period of change which has seen us transform from a traditional benevolent status to a leader in the blue light sector. We work throughout the UK to deliver groundbreaking research, innovation and evidence-based action to help the police community cope with the impact of policing. Some of our work consists of individual projects in the police forces to help improve well being, practical, emotional and financial support to serving and veteran officers, staff and their families.
We are currently looking for an exceptional individual to join our team in this newly created role:
JOB TITLE: Individual Giving Manager
REPORTING TO: Head of Fundraising
LOCATION: Woking, Surrey
POSITION: Permanent, full time, 35 hours per week
MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
This role is for an experienced Individual Giving fundraising manager who is ready to develop and deliver the Individual Giving programme consisting of fundraising appeals and regular giving campaigns. The candidate will play a crucial role in inspiring supporters by cultivating a sense of identity and ownership to secure regular and committed donations.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project managing, delivering, and developing the portfolio of fundraising campaigns, including appeals and other regular giving activities, using multi-channels; direct mail, email, digital, social media, radio, press inserts and advertising Manage and grow the regular donors’ scheme, Payroll Giving, In-Memory giving, appeals and contribute to our overall fundraising strategy
- To champion the use of data and insight to drive regular giving, supporting the use of the database for effective prospect and donor management
- Monitoring, evaluating, and forecasting the performance of campaigns Managing and reviewing all copywriting and creative processes for all communications, writing creative briefs for external agencies, maintaining the tone of and key messages to appropriate audiences
- Achieve income and key accountability targets providing reports and updates as required as outlined in annual plans
- Work closely with wider fundraising team in crossover areas such as Corporate Partnerships and Major Donors, Trust and Foundation Work in line with the charity’s policies and processes
- Support the Head of Fundraising with the other tasks as required
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues across Police Care UK providing guidance on how to optimise all fundraising opportunities Champion Police Care UK and the support it provides to our police, their families and the wider police service Always be well acquainted with the extent of the Charity’s work
Person Specification Criteria
Experience
ESSENTIAL
- A track record of successfully developing and implementing regular giving strategies and campaigns
- Raising substantial fundraised income and achieve targets
- Working effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrable experience of setting, managing and delivering against budgets, reporting on KPIs, variances and re-forecasting
- Successful and proven experience in budget management
DESIRABLE
- Experience of working with external creative agencies
- Experience in managing volunteers
Skills & Attributes
ESSENTIAL
- Exceptional communication and writing skills Ability to develop solutions, based on data analyses and understanding the relevant information
- Proven project management skills
- Excellent written skills including experience of editing and writing compelling copy
- Ability to apply a broad range of communication skills to influence, motivate and persuade a wide range of people to donate
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and passionately – in person, by telephone and in writing
DESIRABLE
- Developing and managing fundraising events
- Good presentation skills to both internal and external audiences
Knowledge
ESSENTIAL
- Working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics and how to apply these leanings to future campaigns
- The regulatory environment for charities, fundraising and communications and in particular, Gift Aid,
- Fundraising Code of Conduct Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, CRMs, social media and web platforms
DESIRABLE
- Managing lotteries, understanding required legislation
