Location: Westminster, Central London Salary: £83 - £95 Contract: Full-time | Part-time | Contract Start date: ASAP
Hays Education are working on behalf of an Ofsted rated 'Good' Primary School based in Westminster, North London - they are looking for a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, who is experienced in supporting children with special needs, on a 1:1, small group, or whole class basis.
This role is focused on supporting a high-functioning boy with ASD. He is extremely clever but needs to feel listened to and supported.
As a Special Education Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant, your role involves supporting students with various difficulties within the school system.
Here are the key duties and responsibilities you'll commonly perform:

Arrange and maintain classroom resources to create an effective learning environment.
Prepare the classroom for lessons and ensure it remains safe and tidy.
Assist students with their academic tasks.
Provide emotional support to help students thrive.
Attend to students' personal care needs if required.
Encourage independence and personal development amongst pupils.
Uphold high expectations of behaviour and conduct among students.
Foster positive interactions and behaviour within the classroom.
Work closely with colleagues to benefit students and enhance the learning environment.
Liaise effectively with teachers and other staff members.
Create a safe learning environment for children.
Regularly record and report students' progress to the teacher.

Requirements:
Minimum Grade 4 or equivalent in GCSE Maths and English Language.
Valid Enhanced DBS (preferably on the Update Service).
Familiarity with Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
Experience providing specialised support to children with SEN, including those with moderate to severe behavioral difficulties.
Ideally, experience working with students with Autism, Dyslexia, Challenging Behavior, PLD, MLD, PECs, and Makaton.
