Job description

We are looking for a first opinion small animal vet to join our happy and vibrant team at Cathedral Vets Ely, part of the Companion Care and Vets4Pets group.

At Cathedral Vets we pride ourselves on our kindness and compassion to each other and our patients and clients. Our aim is to treat every patient as if they were our own and go above and beyond to offer the best possible care in every situation.

We are looking for a vet who is comfortable with routine medical cases and surgeries. We are happy to consider full time or part time options, with flexibility in the rota to suit the right candidate, and no out of hours cover required.

We can offer opportunities for progression in a number of areas, whether that’s building on your overall clinical experience, picking up leadership responsibilities or mentoring less experienced team members. We are keen to encourage the development of any specific interests within the team and will fund CPD up to certificate level.

We have a lovely, loyal client base, the majority of whom are insured, which enables us to work up cases to a high standard in-house. For those cases where we need extra help and advice, we have peripatetic ophthalmology, orthopaedic and cardiology services, as well as several local referral centres we can call upon.

We aim to ensure our team have the time they need to work-up cases to the level we pride ourselves on. Regular breaks are scheduled throughout our working day, double consults are booked for more complex cases and our nurses carry out consults and Schedule 3 procedures. We endeavour to leave on time and on the rare occasion that we don’t, overtime can either be paid or taken in lieu.

As a very friendly and welcoming team we enjoy working closely together and socialising outside of work. Our standalone practice is in a lovely setting behind the beautiful Ely Cathedral and market square. This means walking to town for a wander round the shops or a walk by the river is easy. We are 15 miles from Cambridge and an hour from the beautiful North Norfolk coastline.

We offer a salary of up to £65K and our benefits package includes:
