Job description
Building Control Officer
- 36 hours per week
- Ilford based
- £39.17 per hour PAYE / £50.00 per hour Umbrella
- Temporary contact - 3 months with the view of extension
- The successful candidate will be for someone who is registered or, has applied and has an exam date, for Class 2 Band B under the BCSF accreditation scheme (or equivalent arrangements under other assessment bodies)
Overview and duties:
- To manager the workload of the Building Control service and ensure compliance in accordance with the Building Act 1984, Building regulations and allied legislation and Council priorities.
- To ensure the provision of a customer focused Building Control service which is fit for purpose and able to compete effectively with the private sector.
- To prioritise and ensure the performance and execution of tasks are achieved within statutory time frames and agreed action plans
- To give expert advice to customers and partners on the multiplicity of legislation that relates to the Building Control function.
- To effectively manager dangerous structures and demolitions and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in emergencies.
Minimum education. qualifications required:
- Corporate membership/ Associate membership on RICS, ABE or equivalent as applicable
- Relevant qualification of diploma/ degree or working towards the qualification
- Substantive / Extensive post qualification experience in Building Control
- Able to supervise demolition works as applicable
- Full working knowledge / knowledge of the Building Regulations and allied legislation
- Full working knowledge of C.D.M Regulations
- Working knowledge of Local Authority System (LAS)
- Attendance at Dangerous Structures as applicable
A full JD can be provided upon request.
Previous background/ Knowledge is essential and you MUST be working towards your qualification or be fully qualified to be considered forward.
