Job description
National Veterinary Services is the UK s leading veterinary wholesaler providing a next day delivery service through our nationwide network of distribution depots. We supply pet products, veterinary consumables, pharmaceuticals, and IT solutions for veterinary practices.
Following the move to our new, purpose–built and sustainable, head office, warehouse and distribution facility last year, we have more than doubled our previous warehouse capacity and are now preparing for further growth. To support this, we are seeking a senior change champion on a 9 month contract basis to lead the charge on our Warehouse Management System (WMS) integration project.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, your tasks will include:
- meeting with stakeholders to agree the project requirements, deadlines, and aspirations for managing the required output
- creating, maintaining, and managing a detailed project plan in line with these requirements
- engaging regularly with the different project stakeholders to proactively identify and resolve potential issues
- identifying reasons for any delays and working to mitigate and recover from any potential slippage
- managing risk and escalating issues in a timely manner
- tracking and evaluating project performance, and preparing and distributing weekly progress reports
- chairing regular progress meetings
To be successful you will need:
- senior operational management experience
- 5 + years of proven experience in project management and delivery, ideally with experience of WMS roll out
- exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders at all levels
- strong problem–solving and decision–making abilities, with a proactive and solution–oriented approach to project challenges
- sound organisational and multitasking skills
- excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide project teams towards successful project outcomes
- an ability to positively challenge and manage relationships, providing guidance to remove obstacles that may impact progress to towards the end goal
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, as well as a solid understanding of engineering principles and practices
- PMP or PMI certification or similar from an accredited organisation would be an advantage
