Job description
Gaia Talent is seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our client's expanding environmental team.
Applicants should ideally have a minimum of 3 years' experience working in ecological consultancy and have a strong knowledge of wildlife policy and legislation.
Minimum requirements:
- Relevant third level Degree (Level 8 or higher);
- A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience within the field of ecological consultancy;
- Knowledge of relevant wildlife policy and legislation, and its real-world application;
- Must be willing to work regular unsocial hours associated with bat survey work during the period April to October inclusive;
- Must be comfortable, where appropriate and safe to do so, with working within water bodies to carry out aquatic surveys;
- Largely working from our Galway office but willing to work in our Dublin, Cork, and Castlebar offices when required;
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office;
- QGIS mapping skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
The following would be advantageous:
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM);
- Holder of a survey license for at least one European Protected Species;
- Experienced in aquatic monitoring, surveying, and reporting;
- Water framework sampling experience.
- Applicants should hold a full clean driver's license and a vehicle so they can travel for surveys.
