Finance Analyst (Marketing)
Location: Leicester - Enderby, Next Head Office Summary of Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our dynamic Marketing Finance team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for providing support to the Digital Marketing, who are responsible for showcasing and advertising the amazing products we source at Next. There will also be times when supporting our In-Store Marketing and Creation teams is necessary.
Our Marketing operation is extremely high profile with meetings every month with senior operational managers to monitor and control their costs and most importantly to support them in producing analysis and support for future opportunities. The role also includes weekly reviews of Digital Marketing spend to measure the return and success of our campaigns in the UK and Internationally, plus those of our Total Platform business clients such as Reiss and Joules
The investment in Marketing and Creation has experienced strong growth over the past few years as we have transitioned from traditional printed advertising to digital advertising and this role will support the refinement of our Digital Marketing activity to maximise its impact and returns
Our Marketing Finance team is responsible for delivering finance support to key stakeholders across the business, for a variety of purposes including:
- Running financial appraisals on digital marketing activity - learn how the FY cash & NPV calculations files work and be able to run both UK and Int’l weekly files, as well as Monthly TP files, plus any ad hoc ones which may need to be ran.
- Meetings with cost centre managers to review their expenditure - understand the cost centre reports and on a monthly basis, review variances to forecast and raise with the appropriate manager to understand the reasoning behind
- Close liaison with our international team - our international business is growing year on year, which means we need to ensure accurate costings and appraisals of marketing projects to further support this growth and development into new countries.
- Monthly forecasting - after meetings with cost centre managers, put together potential forecast changes we may have to look at going forward and provide commentary and analysis.
- Budgeting - twice yearly budgeting process, which includes reviews with all key digital marketing stakeholders, before presenting to the relevant Director ahead of finance submission
- Balance sheet completion on a monthly basis - Complete balance sheet recs with backing documentation and first pass at comments on the front page summary so it can be reviewed after month end
- Supporting creation & retail marketing teams - understand how shoot costs are lodged and how retail costs are accumulated through iDrive documentations, to then ensure correct cost accounting and manage variances to forecast.
- Ad Hoc queries - On an adhoc basis you are asked to investigate queries for key stakeholders or you will receive requests for information regarding activity
Skills and Experience
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA, Qualified or Part-Qualified
- Experience of working in a fast moving finance department
- IT literate - Excel (Essential)
- Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate information clearly
- Excellent planning and organisational skills to ensure delivery of work to timescales and the ability to prioritise own workload.
