Job description
The post holder (Associate) will be responsible for supporting and
managing a collaborative
36-month KTP project between CTCHG and Cardiff Metropolitan University.
It is anticipated that the Associate will undertake the KTP project based
at CTCHG’s offices
in Abercynon with some online working. Additional places of work include
travel to CTCHG’s
residential communities, Down to Zero’s land sites, and Cardiff
Metropolitan University in
addition to travel in Wales, UK and internationally.
To take overall responsibility for the delivery of the KTP project
objectives.
o Through market research identify a preferred offsite manufacturer (OSM)
for the supply of aspirational net zero carbon bio-based modern methods of
retrofit (MMR) systems for CTCHG’s existing dwellings.
o Conduct market research of renewable energy technologies for cooling and
heating dwellings to be linked to air to water and air heat pumps,
including earth-to thermal exchange systems, to identify suppliers and
installers.
o Engage with UK and international experts in earth-to thermal exchange
systems to transfer knowledge to the KTP project.
o Develop questionnaire surveys and conduct engagement with the pilot
dwelling occupants before and after the implementation of retrofit
measures, to evaluate their comfort and quality of life and any impacts of
the retrofit systems.
o Undertake lifecycle analysis of the MMR systems for retrofitting the
dwelling pilots.
o Undertake environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) data
analysis and reporting of CTCHG’s activities.
o Work with the OSM partner and CTCHG’s asset housing team to develop the
MMR performance specification with bio-based and circular materials and
systems for the fabric retrofit of the pilot existing dwellings.
o Work with the Canadian experts and supplier of the earth-to thermal
exchange systems and CTCHG’s asset housing team to develop the
performance specification to enable renewable cooling and heating of the
pilot existing dwellings.
o Oversee the retrofit implementation of both the MMR systems and the
earth-to thermal exchange systems for renewable cooling and heating systems
to circa 70 pilot existing dwellings.
o Analyse the findings of the occupant engagement and monitoring strategy
and make recommendations for the pathways to net-zero-carbon for the post
KTP dwelling retrofit programme.
o Develop and oversee a monitoring strategy for the pilot existing
dwellings, to assess the effectiveness to reduce energy use, and embodied
and operational carbon emissions, and maximise occupant comfort and quality
of life.
CSAD91
o Working with the DTZ team, evaluate and develop routes to market for
carbon sequestration, food production and the potential for carbon storage
from the production of biochar; to include income streams for both.
o Evaluate carbon storage implementation through the production of biochar
and potential income streams.
o Oversee the launch, publishing and dissemination of CTCHG’s
Decarbonisation Strategy.
o Disseminate the KTP research through various methods including but not
limited to CTCHG newsletters and academic peer reviewed publications which
will include presenting at workshops and conferences.
o To manage the Associate Support budget associated with the KTP
Project.
o Convene and lead monthly technical meetings to discuss progress, targets,
and resources.
o Adhere to all confidentiality, Intellectual Property Rights, Investors In
People, health and safety procedures etc, established within CTCHG and
Cardiff Metropolitan University.
o Deliver the KTP project outputs including writing an Associate final
report and contribute to the partners final report, quantifying the
benefits that have been achieved prior to the agreed end of the KTP
programme.
o Any other duties that may be reasonably assigned by the Knowledge Base
Supervisor/Industrial Supervisors.
