Clinical Investigation Unit (Trainee Assistant Practitioner) An opportunity has arisen within Clinical Investigation Unit (CIU) for Band 4 Assistant Practitioner working within Cardio/Respiratory services. The CIU works across 3 UHMBT sites –Furness General Hospital (FGH) Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) and Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI). The successful applicants will be required to work on the above locations. The post holder will be required to provide support to the clinical physiology team, working in areas such as Electrocardiograms (ECG), ambulatory ECG and BP hook up and analysis, prolonged ECG monitoring and analysis, pharmacological stress testing, and assisting in ECG stress testing, basic lung function, sleep studies, bronchial challenge and assisting in CPAP trials. As a Healthcare Scientist Assistant Practitioner Physiologist, you will be required to work as an autonomous practitioner. Participate in the service delivery of the designated specialist areas of Clinical Respiratory and Cardiology. Provide and perform, advanced clinical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the two disciplines of Clinical Respiratory and Clinical Cardiology, to patients of all ages, from a range of specialties, suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders, including those which may be respiratory or Cardiac in nature. Undertake the provision of results and reports. Undertake the education and training of Clinical Respiratory & Cardiology physiologists and other healthcare professionals including medical staff within the designated specialist areas. We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay. Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals.
