Job description
Experienced, enthusiastic & dedicated groom required for private, friendly, family run showjumping / competition yard, you will be required to help on yard (all general duties included) and also be required to groom at SJ competitions (day shows and stay away shows) . You must love caring for horses like they are your own, be happy, positive, efficient & turn out to high standard (OCD welcome)!. UK Shows attended in 2022 /3 included London Global Champions, HOYS, London International, Blue chip Championship, BS Nationals, Chepstow International, Bolesworth International, same shows planned for 2024 plus some shows in Europe, HGV licence would be a bonus for any shared driving.
Yard includes show jumping horses and ponies who all compete regularly.
We are looking for an individual that wants to feel part of the family and will be appreciated for their dedication and commitment to the job. We would like someone that is looking for a long term job. Loyalty is key.
TYPICAL DAY start : feeding, hay, horses on /off walker, turning out youngsters, mucking out, tacking up/untacking, grooming, hot clothing, trimming in wash box
AFTERNOON: skipping out, hay, check waterer, bring in youngsters from field, feed, sweep yard & horse walker. clipping when required
Must be honest, reliable, cheerful, dedicated, be able to turn out to a high standard, work in an efficient and calm manner around the horses. These horses are all well mannered so I expect staff to handle them in a kind manner also - we do not tolerate heavy handed or rough handling at this yard.
Must have experience of grooming at SJ competitions and stay away SJ shows. Packing lorry for shows
I have 2 competitive show jumping children who compete at a high level for their age qualified HOYS, London International in 2022, so candidates must be children & pony friendly - we attend all the major pony shows in UK also throughout the year as well as all the major horse shows.
Family run yard with 2 very well mannered, polite children who like to help on the yard so PLEASE NO; DRUG USERS, ALCOHOLICS, TANTRUM & TIARA DRAMA QUEENS, BULLIES, HOME SICK NERVOUS WRECKS, LIGHT FINGERS, FIBBERS, CRIMINAL RECORDS, Goods solid references required - This is a nice yard with nice well mannered horses & people who will treat you with the same respect.
Modern, clean, cosy & warm - sole/private living accommodation. Kitchen/lounge, bathroom with double shower & bedroom with double bed and fitted wardrobes.
The yard is situated in a pretty village style town with great pubs, resturants & shops including a Tesco express, Filco, Waitrose, Costa coffee, banks, chemist, doctors, dentists, bakery, hairdressers, sports centre, WH Smiths - just 3 minutes in a car.
Cardiff Airport & Cardiff city centre is just 20 minutes away by car.
