Financial Controller
Salary: Up to £75,000 plus discretionary bonus
Location: Barnet, London (on-site)
Our property maintenance client based in Barnet is looking to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the end-to-end finance operations and drive continuous improvement of accounting practices.
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant with strong knowledge of Sage and will have experience within construction, planned maintenance, or the FM sector. It is also essential to have extensive experience managing multiple companies, intercompany ledgers, and consolidated group accounts.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and posting monthly accruals, prepayments, and similar accounting entries.
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Leading the analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and presenting findings to the board
- Managing an end-to-end process of current systems – while acting as the first point of contact for external auditors/accountants
- Continually identifying risks to delivery, proposing solutions where necessary, and effectively managing stakeholder expectations throughout
- Dealing with working capital management and production of cash flow forecasts.
- Leading the team responsible for payroll, VAT, and HMRC processes.
- Intercompany reconciliation relating to intercompany transactions and loans
- Compiling management accounts and group consolidated accounts
- Project reconciliation including supplier costs and retention tracking up and downstream
- Overseeing and managing the accounts team including all day-to-day HR including training, task management, quality control, and procedure monitoring
Key requirements will include:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Experience within a construction environment and dealing with CIS
- Knowledge of Sage accounting software
- Experience with intercompany transactions and loans and putting together management accounts and group consolidated accounts
- Experience in submitting VAT returns and submitting PAYE&CIS monthly statements
- Strong Excel and modelling skills
- Experience in producing budgets up to multi-millions
