Job description
We areseeking to recruit a Community Specialty Doctor to join our service This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiasticand flexible candidates with innovative ideas to help shape the CommunityPaediatric services in Bridgewater Halton Borough. We provide a comprehensiverange of community paediatric medical and co-located services for children andyoung people who have neurodevelopmental needs,disabilities, special educational and social needs. You will work alongside consultants,specialist nurses, community pharmacist, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speechtherapy and operational manager. The service is delivered from a recently refurbishedself-contained Child Development Centre.
We are committed to excellence inchild and family centred care and work closely with multiagency teams includingCAMHS and acute Paediatrics. You will be joining a team of 3 WTE CommunityPaediatric Consultants, Specialist Registrar, Specialist Nursing team, ClinicalPharmacist and Administrative staff. We have close clinical links with the Warrington Borough meeting for shared learning and joint servicedevelopment in community paediatrics. You will have Consultant supervisionwith theopportunity to develop new skills and undertake further training as part ofcareer progression. The department does not currently undertake child protectionmedicals however competence in this would be desirable. You will have use of officefacilities, secretarial support and excellent IT provision.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
Clinical (underappropriate supervision);
Specialistpaediatric assessment of children referred where there are concerns regardingneurodevelopmental problems or neurodisability.
Specialistpaediatric assessment of children coming into care (CIC) and relatedactivities.
Toundertake clinics and to provide support to more junior doctors where appropriate;includes integrated working with education and social services staff
Ifchild protection medical provision resumes within the Department; to assesschildren referred by Social Services or Police and to participate in thedaytime hours child protection rota. To be involved in peer review for ChildProtection cases
Toprovide prescriptions for the caseload of children treated for ADHD and sleepdifficulties on rota basis.
To bepart of the multidisciplinary assessment and diagnosis process for childrenreferred to the service, including ASD, ADHD and other clinical conditions includingoccasional attendance at relevant pathway and operational group meetings
To beinvolved in provision of advice and outcome focused information for those whorequire EHCPs for Halton and West Cheshire.
To providehigh quality service delivery including high quality case records, ensuringadherence to professional best practice.
Partnershipworking with Local Authority, Hospital Paediatric services, CAMHS, Education andSocial Services colleagues.

JobPurpose:
ThisSpecialty Doctor role in Community Paediatrics is to provide a high-qualityservice supporting Children and Young People to receive assessment, investigation,diagnosis and appropriate support to optimise their quality of life. This role is part of a well-establishedteam of consultants as well as a range of staff, including our specialist NeurodisabilityNursing team and Clinical pharmacist. The Doctors work closely withBridgewater AHP staff, Health Visitors and School Nurses as part of a CommunityTeam working to support families with special needs in Community.
TheSpecialty Doctor will provide assessment, treatment and the management forchildren with long term neurodevelopmental disorders, including ASD and ADHD,neurodisabling conditions, complex and special educational needs, sensory andphysical difficulties, social needs amongst other conditions. It is anticipatedthat the Specialty Doctor could take on lead role (s) to complement thecurrent roles within the Department and in keeping with their particularinterests if possible.
TheBridgewater Community Doctors (Halton and Warrington) support each other andmeet for shared learning opportunities.
As aSpecialty Doctor you will have appropriate Secretarial support, IT facilitiesand office space. Bridgewater uses SystmOne as their patient managementsystem.
Toparticipate in the training of Medical Students, Nurses, Therapists, Educationand Social Services staff and voluntary groups and other staff asappropriate.
To participatein medical and postgraduate training when required by the organisation
Toundertake safeguarding training at level 3 which will include the trainingrequired at levels 1-2.
Accountabilityand Review
TheCommunity Paediatric Specialty Doctor is responsible to the Clinical Directorin Community Paediatrics and accountable to Bridgewater Medical Director andultimately to the Trust Board. Appropriatejob plans will be reviewed / agreed with the Speciality Doctor on an annualbasis by the Clinical Director
