Job description
Skillsearch is looking for a Senior UE4 Gameplay Designer with experience and intimate knowledge of FPS/TPS/Action games to help take the core gameplay of a sci-fi looter shooter to the next level. This full-time Gameplay Designer role is based in Milton Keynes with remote options within Europe and offers an attractive salary and benefits.
As a Senior Gameplay Designer, you will work closely with the Lead Designer and Mission Designers to achieve a high-quality gameplay experience. You will play a major role in balancing all parts of the game, including everything from enemies to interactable props.
Some of the primary duties you can expect to take on as a Senior Gameplay Designer include:
- Working closely with the Lead Designer and Mission Designers to constantly uphold and raise the gameplay experience during the project's lifetime
- Liaising with multiple disciplines and sub-disciplines at any one time as the team works towards implementing the design philosophies and vision of the game
- Reviewing all parts of the game and offering constructive criticism to raise the quality bar
- Working with and balancing player character attribute values such as walk/run speeds, jump/flight speeds and distances, special ability power levels and cooldowns, etc
To apply for this Senior UE4 Gameplay Designer position, you must have held a senior designer position for at least three years and shipped at least one game in the relevant genres (FPS/TPS/Action) where you were responsible for gameplay balancing. Other essential requirements include but aren't limited to:
- Work well with and are used to the daily interactions with all other disciplines and sub-disciplines such as Level/Mission Designers, Art, Code and Production
- Comfortable reviewing all parts of the game and offering constructive criticism to raise the quality bar
- Have extensive knowledge and experience working with and balancing attribute values for all gameplay components, including enemies and intractable/destructible props
- Have an excellent understanding of balancing a game for a wide player base that includes casual players that require an easily accessible game with instant/quick gratification, right up to hardcore players who require a depth of gameplay, combat and a more intense experience
