A fantastic opportunity to take a senior leadership role managing, enhancing, and optimising all areas of the Thurlow Estate, a family-owned, rural property business with a diverse asset base, extending to approximately 15,500 acres comprising significant residential and commercial property interests, a substantial in-hand farm, let farms, woodland, and an in-hand family shoot.
Centered around the village of Thurlow, the Estate is situated within close proximity to the facilities of Cambridge, on the Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and Essex borders, and within easy reach of the UK’s wider road and rail network, including rail links into London Liverpool Street and King’s Cross, and nearby to Stansted airport.
Reporting directly to the Vestey family and Board, the Estate Director will develop and deliver a strategy to help shape the future of the Estate in accordance with the family’s wishes and vision, incorporating long term financial and social resilience. Day to day responsibilities will include maintaining and enhancing the Estate’s assets, line management of the Estate team, and being seen as a key representative of the Estate working alongside a committed, community minded family who care passionately about their role as steward and custodians of the beautiful landscape within which the Estate lies.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the management of people and property. He/she will be commercially and financially astute, and motivated by the environmental and social impact of their role. Strong leadership qualities and confidence in conversing with a range of people are important, as well as being organised and business like with good attention to detail.
