Do you want to get away from split shifts and late nights, and enjoy the spring and summer evenings at leisure. We are looking for a Senior Chef to join our friendly team, with sociable day time hours and generous rate of pay.

Set in a lovely peaceful countryside location in the heart of Devon half way between Okehampton and Crediton.
Job Description
We are looking for a chef to work alongside both our Head chef and Junior Chef in our busy restaurant with a friendly team, the role requires a positive, friendly, calm and polite individual with a passion for food that has excellent cooking skills.
You will be required to work 5 days per week including weekends on rotation in a busy Garden Centre. You will support the Head Chef with a menu of main meals, light bites, cakes and snacks. You will have the opportunity to create your own specials in addition to main menu rather than having to follow a planned menu 100% of the time.
Sociable hours, daytime only, some weekends not all.
A positive approach, good communication and excellent team work is essential for this role.
Catering experience is essential for this fast paced role which includes:
Daily Duties
-Assisting head chef with the preparation and cooking of lunches and taking the lead when head chef away
-Choosing and making specials
-Occasionally making desserts, baking scones, cakes and quiches according to the seasonal menu
-Using stock items in date rotation and advising head cook in plenty of time if items are running low and need re-ordering
-Excellent presentation and quality of food before going out to customer or front of house for display
-Temperature checks as required and recorded on sheets
-Daily cleaning of both your area and as per the schedule to maintain high level of cleanliness, to comply with hygiene regulations
-Completion of the SFBB Diary when head chef is not in.
-Ensure the specials communicated to FOH so specials menu board is updated on a daily basis
-Excellent communication with FOH to ensure smoothness in service especially during lunch service
-A positive and calm approach in all aspects of your role
-Ad hoc duties as requested by head chef and owners.
Salary according to experience.
