Job description

Residential Services Professional position available at The SD School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. This is a part-time, nine-month position following the academic school year, plus an additional six weeks in June and July. The hours are generally Saturday and Sunday midnight-8 AM and at least one weekday shift from 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM. Individual to work with students who are blind or visually impaired in a residential setting. College coursework in special education or child development is beneficial but not required. 

Primary Responsibilities :

· Supervise and assist students who are blind or visually impaired in a residential setting

· Maintain flexibility, initiative, professionalism, and enthusiasm

· Organize and sustain planned activities

Ability to :

· Communicate both orally and in writing

· Assist with lifting and/or transporting of students with physical needs

· Maintain a safe and clean working environment

· Works effectively with co-workers and students

 

The employee will be required to complete a medical certification course provided by SDSBVI . The employee will be required to provide documentation of MMR vaccination and undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment.
