Job description
The post holder will be expected to support the clinical and research activities of the unit including clinical trial work.In addition, the post holder can expect to develop the following skills: Higher level site specialist experience. The Units Consultants treat patients with urological cancer (prostate, bladder, testicular, penile). The large clinical practice gives broad experience in both local and systemic treatment approaches in each tumour type. This provides an ideal background to further develop the appointees clinical experience that will enable them to be well placed to develop as an independent practitioner in their chosen area. Training in technologically advanced radiotherapy techniques (for clinical oncology applicants). The unit is committed to the development and implementation of the latest radiotherapy techniques and their evaluation and provides an unrivalled opportunity to develop skills in this area.Clinical oncology applicants will be given training in radiotherapy contouring, and plan assessment, as well as the opportunity to learn online adaptive recontouring on the MR linac. Clinical research. The Unit is actively involved in a large number of national and local clinical trial protocols frequently as national or international chief investigator. Although this is primarily a clinical post in terms of workload, the appointee will be encouraged to actively participate in this research, develop clinical research projects and there are many opportunities to publish peer-reviewed articles during this fellowship. The post includes formal educational opportunities alongside our specialist trainees, including journal clubs, seminars and formal lectures.
