We are looking for a highly motivated EHS Advisor to join our team in Abingdon UK.

Role Type : Permanent Position

Location : Based at Milton Park in Abingdon

Hours & Days : Monday to Friday 40 hours per work

Salary : Starting salary £31,000 plus company benefits

To efficiently support and expand our business at our Abingdon site, we are looking for highly skilled, innovative, engaging, and pro-active scientists.

Reporting to the Head of EHS (UK), this role supports our vision for an effective, contemporary, and progressive Health, Safety and Environmental strategy for the Abingdon site. The role is part of a wider EHS Team and supports a wide variety of business functions and activities.

Key Responsibilities or Core Accountabilities:

• Support the monitoring of compliance with procedures, legislation and general safe working practice through audits, inspections, and other appropriate monitoring.
• Perform safety inductions (Employee and Contractor) and where appropriate support the on-going development of the Occupational Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing training programme.
• Assist in the delivery of suitable and sufficient risk assessments, accident / incident investigations, reporting, and training.
• Provision of service to departments on matters of Environment Health and Safety (EHS)
• May assist in training other employees in their specialised area.
• Key Responsibilities

Helping to manage and deploy the EH&S Management System for Abingdon site. Leading, owning, or coaching to conduct assurance activities such as

• Enabling stakeholders in their H&S risk assessments as part of the global and UK Risk Register framework.
• Enable or deliver both proactive and reactive risk management techniques striving to learn where both success and errors lie in our operations through post-event investigations.
• Support the sites’ interactions with external bodies, e.g., fire brigade and enforcement agencies.
• Responding to environmental or safety emergencies.
• Proactive risk management e.g., resilience or ‘stress-testing’ our EHS managements systems and procedures.
• Assurance activities such as audits and inspections to assure the level of engagement, compliance, and senior management commitment.
• Assist with compliance with UK legislation and specific EHS permits as appropriate.
• Influencing behaviours and work practices.
• May assist in Occupational Hygiene / Environmental monitoring programmes.

Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities:

• A natural enjoyment of collaborating with people, highly empathetic.
• The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Experience working within a Health and Safety Management System is required.
• Experience operating with ISO45001 accreditation is desirable.
• NEBOSH certificate holder or working towards.
• Experience working in a life science, pharmaceutical, CRO, food, hospital or manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of human factors in Health & Safety is advantageous.
