With senior mentoring, academy training - and our partnership with the Manchester Metropolitan University partnership - you could progress to a clinical role or managerial position. As a Hand Therapist at our Wessex Hospital, you will manage a complex clinical caseload of hand therapy patients referred from Consultants, GP's, PMI's or self referrals, as well as post-operative patients. You will work within a multidisciplinary team including nurses, AHP's and consultants, playing a key role in helping our patients recover to the level of health and wellbeing that they aspire to. You will liaise closely with our orthopaedic hand surgeons, running clinics alongside Professor Warwick, David Hargreaves, George Cox and Alistair Philips. Your responsibilities will include providing clinical leadership and expertise to our small hand therapy team, ensuring the provision of high quality care, supporting with training and development of more junior members of staff. You will be expected to exercise a high degree of professional autonomy and integrity along with excellent communication skills. You will support the national Nuffield Health Hand Therapy network with regular supervision sessions. As a Hand Therapist, you will: Deliver high quality, effective clinical care. Be compliant with all professional, clinical and integrated governance standards and participate in clinical audit and other quality assurance processes. To succeed as our Hand Therapy Lead, you will: Have a BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent, you'll be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Demonstrate evidence of further professional hand therapy specific training and continual professional development, reflecting your desire to develop as a practitioner. Have a minimum of 5 years experience working in the field of hand therapy with experience of leading a service desirable. Be able to demonstrate excellent hand therapy and splinting skills. Be a confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with the general public and other healthcare professionals. Be a competent and confident IT user with strong organisation skills Have the ability to prioritise and deal with your varied workload in an effective and timely manner. Supporting your growth.
