The role 👩👨 

We are recruiting a Finance Manager. 

We are looking for a Finance Manager to be the point-person for reporting, financial controls and financial analysis, working directly with Director of Operations and Finance and the CFO (co-founder). 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a professional practice environment, preferably with an initial background in audit within a top firm. They should possess extensive experience in managing and interpreting unstructured data to produce precise outcomes across diverse subjects, and being able to establish solid, repeatable and automatable processes. A solid foundation in accounting and auditing is essential as well as demonstration of an operational acumen and entrepreneurial spirit. 

This role presents a unique opportunity to gain direct experience in overseeing financial reporting for a portfolio of companies with a P&L exceeding €10 million and growing 100%+ this year. You will ensure that transactional finance processes scale, leveraging technology and process re-engineering. You will be accountable for cash flow management, tax compliance, timely and accurate reporting and other key financial control practices.

What you will be doing ⚙️

Primary Responsibilities 

• Comprehensive Leadership of the Finance Function: Assume full responsibility for the finance department, overseeing junior team members and coordinating with external advisors. This includes ensuring the accuracy and punctuality of financial reporting and overseeing all financial processes for month-end closures. 
• Annual Audit: Serve as the primary contact for our annual audit, facilitating direct communication with external auditors to ensure a seamless audit process. 
• Management Information Reporting: Regularly prepare and distribute comprehensive management information packs for management, investors and lenders. 
• Process Optimisation and Automation: Refine financial processes to ensure the generation of high-quality data, collaborating with the technology team to identify and implement automation opportunities. 
• Financial Analysis and Insight: Conduct thorough analyses of the company's financial data to identify key cost drivers and provide strategic insights. 
• Payment Cycle Management: Maintain comprehensive oversight of the payment cycle, guaranteeing timely payments to vendors and managing all related processes efficiently. 
• Cash Flow Management and Forecasting: Lead the development and maintenance of precise cash flow forecasts, establishing a top-tier cash flow management system that integrates seamlessly with accounting software and banking platforms, potentially collaborating with software developers or utilizing existing solutions. 

Scope for Growth 

• FP&A: Expand your expertise in financial planning, including the comprehensive preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts, along with periodic reforecasting. Develop an ability to narrate the story behind actual performance versus the budget, providing insightful analysis and forward-looking guidance. 
• Strategic Commercial Finance: Take on a pivotal role in managing strategic financial operations, including intra-group arrangements and transfer pricing strategies. Establish and monitor rate cards to ensure the profitability of key accounts, aligning financial strategies with overall business objectives and market conditions. 

Requirements

• ACA (or equivalent) qualified with at least 12-24 months of post-qualified experience working in a highly analytical and data-oriented environment.
• Strong understanding of technical accounting (UK GAAP and IFRS) and audit processes.
• Excellent analytical skills, including expert knowledge of Excel. Other data analytics tools such as SQL would be an advantage.
• A can-do, no excuses attitude. 
• A love of lean, well-oiled processes.
• High motivation to join an early stage, high growth business.
• The ability to work from our central London office location 4-5 days per week (with the flexibility to WFH when needed).
• An interest in software technology, and pharma.
