We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team in the Southampton Drug and Alcohol Service, t he post holder will pro-actively assist in the delivery of comprehensive interventions aimed at improving health & wellbeing for service users across the service and contribute to ensure that substance users across Southampton receive consistent high quality services that adhere to the best practice guidelines and achieve high professional standards.
The Healthcare assistant role is a varied one, the successful candidate will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, supporting with specialist clinical interventions to people who use our services.
This job role is not supported through sponsorship as it is only part time.
Where: Southampton
Hours: 18.75h per week
Salary : £23,525.95 - £25,106.61 Pro Rata (CGL Scale 19-21) Depending on experience
About the role:
- Working closely with your Nursing team to develop pathways to care
- Support service users in opiate and alcohol interventions.
- You will support on harm reduction interventions along with physical and mental health assessments.
- Keeping the people who use our services at the heart of everything you do
- Undertake initial physical and mental health screening for people who use our services
- Assist and carry out appropriate toxicology screening processes including urine and saliva tests.
- Provide education, health promotion and screening for blood borne viruses
- Support community alcohol detoxification either at the service or at the service user’s home.
- Maintain required standards of infection control and hygiene as per Change Grow Live policies and procedures.
- Understand and adhere to the legislation surrounding the use of PSDs
About you:
- Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to work flexibly as part of a team
- Experience of working within substance misuse or a social care setting would be an advantage but not essential
- A clear understanding of the need for and ability to deliver quality services
- Good organisational skills
- Knowledge of harm reduction and health promotion interventions.
- Confidence to work on own initiative as well as part of the team
- Communicate confidently and effectively, verbally and in writing
- Respond flexibly to the demands of the post
