Technical Manager

Overview:

AM2PM Grimsby is looking for a Technical Manager for one our clients in the food industry in the Grimsby area.
The salary is £40,000 per annum.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30AM to 5PM

About the business:

Our client are a well established, leading international provider of seafood products, with over 20 years experience in their industry.

Roles & Responsilbities:

As technical manager you will be responsible for ensuring food safety and quality across two divisions of the company. In addition to this, maintain compliance against all third-party standards and be critical in the role of ensuring all food safety standards of which are compliant with EU and UK regulations and legislation. You will be leading and developing a small team of quality staff.
Main Duties:
Be responsible for all technical requirements relating to Processing/Packing facilities.
Provide specialist and expert advice and aid in implementation of food safety within a processing environment.
Maintain a detailed, well working QMS.
Update and review HACCP. Prepare HACCP for new products when required.
Lead internal audits, identify non conformances and prepare actions.
Ensure a good traceability system is maintained.
Update and maintain specifications for all processed (and traded) products.
Address, investigate and manage customer complaints. Prepare preventative actions and formal responses.
Focus on hygiene and verification of hygiene implemented.
Work closely with the production manager/quality team to assess and maintain quality of final product.
Be responsible for legal requirements of labelling, packaging, analysis of trading seafood and pet products. Regularly check legislation for any updates to labelling, specifications etc
Maintain, review and update/create prerequisites.
Lead for customer and external audits including internally audit all processes and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
Communicate with suppliers and customers to ensure product quality.
Assess and maintain the control of intake and despatch of all goods.
Monitor quality of intake and feedback regularly to suppliers and senior management team.
Monitor products against specifications as well as overseeing all lab submissions; ensure monitoring of all products against specifications in a timely manner.
Record and store all lab certificates in organised manner. Interpret lab results and record lab results in customer format.
Regularly review quarantine stock volumes and report to sales director.
Ensure yearly analytical plan for monitoring of raw material is completed.
Be responsible for the management of quality staff members at different sites.
Maintain budgets and costings structure for analysis and sampling.
New product development across the different areas of the business.
Responsible for maintaining external accreditations such as Organic, MSC, Global Gap, ASC and BRC.
Implement supplier service level standards.

Skills & Requirements:

An ideal candidate must have previous technical management experience, ideally within a food production background. You must also be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of food safety processes and legislation including HACCP. In line with this you must have the knowledge and experience of leading internal audits, external audits, client/customer experience, as well as account management. Candidates must also have in depth knowledge and understanding of legal requirements for labelling, packaging and trading of seafood and pet products.

As shown above, the pay rate is £40,000 per hour.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30AM to 5PM
Some flexibility around these hours will be required at times.
