Account Director
Are you an experienced highly motivated Account Director or senior account manager with experience in 1st tier automotive supply? Proven experience in building and delivering significant account revenue growth? Looking for a new role in the automotive sector that gives you the responsibility of directing sales strategies?
Major Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading automotive manufacturer who are currently undergoing significant growth within the UK and are looking to recruit an Account Director in this newly created position to join and lead the sales and account management team based at their site in Telford.
As the Account Director you will lead all sales activities for existing and new customers within the UK region. This will include having the responsibility for directing sales strategies with the assigned customers that meet current and future market needs and achieve profitability and growth objectives for the business.
Main responsibilities of an Account Director:
- Develop sales strategy for the assigned Customers and direct the business development and sales effort set forth by corporate objectives.
- Establish execution plans and define programs which support business development and increase market share within target Customers and market segments.
- Drive revenue and pricing with the assigned customer base for improved profitability.
- Visit customers and develop long term relationships to understand current & future needs.
- Act as voice–of–the–customer back into the business regionally and globally as applicable.
- Play a key role in annual and long–term strategic planning with growth initiatives by identifying potential new markets and customers and then strategies to successfully manage these secured accounts as a strategic partner.
- Lead the development of presentations and action plans for potential new clients and prepare executive briefing on strategic decisions, customer meetings or opportunities.
- Deploy and follow global processes (i.e. quotation, growth tracking, monthly operating review updates, input into forecasting & reporting, and drive ownership within region).
- Build and develop a dynamic sales team that is proactive and analytical with a pipe–line of internal talent succession.
- Visit customers and develop long term relationships to understand current & future needs.
- Collaborate with engineering, programme management, finance and others to position the business for growth in the region.
Key skills required to be a successful Account Director:
- Previous experience of working within a high volume, automotive manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in a senior sales level position within a multi–site organisation of at least 250 people.
- Proven experience at this level in building and delivering significant account revenue growth in an evolving business transitioning to growth.
- Account Management experience within 1st tier automotive supply.
- Experienced in developing/managing current key accounts including aftermarket and identifying further revenue opportunities within the account including cost down discussions.
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills
- Business and commercially astute leader able to influence at all levels.
- Full P&L knowledge including pricing, costings, margins, overheads, structures.
