WHAT TO EXPECT
The function of the department is to support the customer teams from Powertrain and Product Development in their objective of achieving ‘timely, quality’ product release.
The Test Engineer is responsible for delivering technology, methodology and processes to enable high quality data and test output in support of Development and Certification activities, as well as day-to-day issue resolution and delivery of Continuous Improvement and Agile methodology techniques and processes to facilitate efficient and accurate measurement. You will work work as part of a team who assure the workflow and quality from our cross functional test capability. They interface with complex cross functional teams, this includes test facility support teams, the customer/stakeholder groups, external agencies and organisations.
The person filling this role will work on days and will be providing support for the facility that runs 24/7; they will be based primarily in Whitley managing the workflow of a small team who operate on double day shift; they are responsible for supporting delivery from test facilities at Whitley.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• To provide technical and supervisory leadership to the RDE/MAF/ED test team in order to meet and exceed productive output targets.
• Take ownership of data quality and performance reporting for measurement equipment and capability.
• To conduct analysis, lead fault rectification and implement solutions to resource, facility and data quality issues, including planning which ensures minimum facility downtime.
• To administer a team of hourly paid associates.
• To lead all H&S, TPM to ensure compliance to ISO45001 and 14001.
• To process quality, etracker and utilisation data and provide evidence-based improvement plans.
• To identify efficiencies in current process and deliver improvements.
• To produce and publish processes for team and customer interface.
• To facilitate apprentice, new starter and existing team member training and development in the team.
• Continuous Improvement across the facility
• Oversee commissioning and acceptance testing of measurement equipment
• To support all activities that result in a positive outcome from any audit, e.g. IATF16949, ISO45001, ISO 14001
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Degree educated in a Science or Engineering disciple (or equivalent experience).
• Proven ability to plan effectively and achieve quality results.
• Experienced with data acquisition and controls.
• Natural problem-solver with proven experience and structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment.
• Detailed knowledge of company Health and Safety requirements, including Risk Assessment, COSHH and SDS.
• Computer literate, including Microsoft Office competency to produce plans, presentations, graphs, process and SPL documents.
• Experience in the testing environment, with a knowledge of measurement technology and facility requirements
• A full UK driving license with less than 6 penalty points, no disqualification, 2 years accident free record.
