Water and Waste business unit (WAW) is a true end-to-end business as part of Wärtsilä Portfolio Businesses. WAW is a global leader in designing and supplying innovative wet and dry waste equipment and freshwater generation solutions for passenger vessels & conventional waste management and ballast water treatment equipment for all marine segments. Operational Buyer, New Build & Retrofit.
We are now looking for an Operational Buyer to join our New Build Purchasing team of four, but as part of the wider Supply Chain Team of twelve people working for a better future. The preferred location for the position is in Poole, Dorset, but also there is flexibility for two days a week working from Home.
What you will be doing
As an Operational Buyer you will be involved in a broad range of activities including interpreting demand (using our SAP system), effectively managing system data, preparing and executing RFQ’s, negotiation, raising Purchase Orders, supplier management and driving ongoing improvement across our Supply Chain. You will be part of a dedicated team working with our global supplier base, committed to driving the highest levels of Supply Chain performance and supporting our internal and external customers. We are looking for candidates who have experience within a manufacturing environment, are confident working with technical drawings and specifications and ideally have worked in regulated industries such as Marine, Aerospace or Defence and are either CIPs qualified or working towards this goal. For you to succeed in the position, we hope you to have an inquisitive and questioning nature and ability to work under pressure and prioritise your own workload.

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our Suppliers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
