Job description

That’s why we need people like you to help us. People who enjoy finding new ways to solve problems and get things done.

Are you passionate about creating a safe and secure working environment? We are seeking a dedicated qualified Health and Safety Advisor to join our Scottish Water contract team, specifically covering our work within major projects and developer services.

As a key player in the water and wastewater industry, you will have the opportunity to shape and enhance our health and safety initiatives.

The Role

We need your help to inspire and help our busy operational colleagues execute their work consistently, using “best in class” health and safety practices. We’ll leave you to decide how best to do this, although we know that you won’t be standing on the side-lines holding a clipboard and grimacing.

We’ll support and encourage your naturally inquisitive nature as you seek to understand the operational challenges your colleagues face on site. We’ll be looking for practical H&S solutions and helpful advice delivered in a style that motivates your audience. We’ll encourage you to create communications strategies which resonate and inspire from in-person conversation to video and podcasts.

Here are just some of the activities you’ll be getting involved with:

We would love to hear from you if you can demonstrate…

A Health and Safety or a related field degree, along with a professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH). Prior experience in a health and safety role, preferably in the water or utilities sector, is required. A solid grasp of health and safety legislation and regulations is essential.

Applicants should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with stakeholders. Analytical and problem-solving abilities are crucial for assessing and mitigating risks. The role also requires effective collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure a unified approach to health and safety throughout the organisation.

A full UK driving licence is also necessary as there is significant travel involved.
