Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant
Location: Liverpool
Minimum Rate-of-Pay: £90 per-day
Contract: Full-Time, Temporary-to-Permanent
Working Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Prospero are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team in an Alternative Provision in Liverpool. This vital role involves working closely with secondary-aged students, providing the tailored support they need to access an alternative curriculum, engage with their peers, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with a variety of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with SENCOs and teaching staff.
- Provide one-to-one support and small group interventions tailored to students' specific needs.
- Help create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and participation.
- Monitor and record students' progress, sharing observations with teachers and parents to support ongoing learning and development.
- Assist with the development of students' social skills, independence, and self-regulation.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities related to SEN support and inclusive education practices.
About You:
- Experience working with children or young adults, particularly those with special educational needs.
- A qualification in education, child care, psychology, or related field is preferred but not essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuinely caring and supportive approach to working with students.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning in the field of special education.
- An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service is required for this position.
