Lea Valley Academy is an 11-19 academy with 880 students on roll. Lea Valley Academy is a member of the EdAcT Trust. 

We are looking to appoint a Teacher of English with excellent subject knowledge who is passionate about their role. The ability to teach Drama or Media is preferable but not essential. We are looking for an individual who will be able raise standards and performance across KS3 & KS4 and to contribute to a positive learning environment throughout the department. This is a unique opportunity for a talented teacher with the ambition, drive, and desire to deliver the school’s vision and to become a valued member of a strong school community.

Our English Team is made up of a dedicated group of teachers, who enjoy working collaboratively to ensure we are offering a high standard of education for our young people. We are a supportive team who are open to learning from one another, sharing workload fairly and contributing to improvements across the curriculum. Work-life balance is a key priority, and we are continuing to experiment with approaches that reduce workload, such as “whole class feedback”, whilst maintaining meaningful and effective teacher-student dialogue. In addition, we are passionate about making English an enjoyable subject to study and to teach; this year, staff and students have enjoyed dynamic oracy and reading lessons, whole-school activities for World Book Day and an English Enrichment “Rap School” Day.

As a school level, Lea Valley Academy is looking for an inspirational teacher who motivates pupils and staff alike to always strive to do their best and continue the development work needed from KS3 all the way through to KS5.
