Fountain Head House School has a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Head teacher to join our school during an exciting time of growth. You will need to committed, hardworking and enthusiastic individual to be able to provide a professional support to our school.

Fountain Head House School is a growing Independent Special day school based in Saltash in Cornwall. The school caters for pupils from 4 to 16 with a range of special educational needs. We have 50 pupils but looking to grow to 62 this academic year. As we are in our third academic year the school is still improving on a whole so if you feel that you can have a positive impact of our changing and growing school, then join our team.

We have a good connection with our parents and the local community which provide some of our pupils with alternative provisions and offsite learning. Our pupils work from an individual timetable to match their needs and skills. All our pupils are on an EHCP plan and have a minimum 1:1 Teaching assistant

Our curriculum offer is highly personalised to the needs of each pupil and delivered through our three Curriculum Pathways: Learning to Learn, Participating in Learning and Independent Learning. The teaching of English, Maths, Science, PSHE and PE sits at the core of each Curriculum Pathway.

You will work closely with the Head Teacher and the other members of the Senior Management Team to support the school with its creative curriculum, driving the strategic planning and development, and taking the lead on our career pathways and qualifications for our Secondary Pupils. We are looking for an adaptable, responsible professional that can provide high quality support for all of our pupils to help them achieve.

At Fountain Head House School we believe that high quality Careers Education and Guidance is critical to our pupils’ futures. As Deputy Head you will continue with our curriculum that features highly personalised Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) with a focus on preparing our pupils for the next step in their educational journey or the workplace, by providing a clear understanding of the world of work, including the routes to work or careers that they might find engaging and rewarding. We support our pupils to acquire the independence, self-development and work/career management skills they need to achieve positive employment destinations, to improve their life opportunities and to have a productive and fulfilling life beyond school.

We consider that creating an inclusive school community is one of the key aspects for supporting our pupils to develop and grow. We welcome parents and carers views and open dialogue. As Deputy Head you will promote contact with parents and carers through our school community events which include Coffee Mornings, Afternoon Teas and termly special events. Communication will be a key part of the role with not only employees, pupil but their parents as well.
