Job description
We are currently seeking a Buyer to join a well-established manufacturer based in Southend.
Your role as Buyer will be, to assist in achieving group programme and business objectives by efficiently managing and reporting supplier expenditure, performance, and risk.
Permanent, Full-Time, 39 Hours
Salary: £36,925 DOE
Mon – Thurs: 8:00 – 17:00 (30 mins lunch)
Fri: 8:00 – 13:00 (no lunch)
Responsibilities:
- Maintain Purchase Orders and SAP within defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Continuously review existing agreements to ensure value for money.
- Ensure adherence to on-time delivery.
- Manage supplier relationships and make decisions related to supplier management and performance.
- Develop sourcing strategies within the existing supply base.
- Prepare and submit pricing requests.
- Conduct price analysis to determine fair and reasonable pricing.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms of contracts.
- Regularly report on supplier performance.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and present supporting Business Cases.
- Ensure expenditures are within the authorized annual budget.
- Assist in identifying methods for continuous improvement and undertake change programs.
- Ensure compliance with all Company rules and regulations.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a safe working environment and observe Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Perform any other reasonable and relevant tasks as required.
Experience/skills required:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Capacity to make informed decisions
- Exceptional negotiation abilities
- Commercial acumen encompassing delivery, acceptance, warranty, payments, and obligations
- Proficiency in relationship and stakeholder management
- Deep industry understanding
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office
- Capability to work autonomously while fostering teamwork
- Aptitude to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
