Category Executive - Grocery Convenience

About the Role

 

As our category vision keeps growing, we're in search of a Category Executive - Grocery Retail to build on our achievements and help us unlock further growth, expansion, and ambition during this exciting phase in line with our 2025 mission.

 

Join us as our Category Executive and help us navigate the world of grocery and convenience! Your role involves diving into the exciting realm of our category roadmap, contributing to the implementation of the category plan by employing strategies to optimize product variety, primary display areas, location placement, product availability, and overall space utilization as well as supporting in the analytics to showcase opportunities and areas of continious improvement.

 

You will focus on two key areas:

 

  1. Supporting in the development of our vision and strategy for the grocery convenience channel
  2. Building, executing and optimising the in market plan with key customers in this channel

 

Working alongside the Senior Category Manager, the Category Executive will be responsible for developing compelling insight to unlock future growth and will work closely with team members to build capability and understanding of the Convenience mission. You will be the ‘voice of Convenience’ across Grocery and will require close working relationships with key stakeholders in the broader Convenience channel.

 

As this is a new role, there is an exciting level of flexibility in terms of the role potential and aligning your key areas of interest, as well a mixture of projects across some of our biggest brands.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Support the Senior Category Manager in the development of 18 month rolling category plans with allocated customer based on execution of in outlet blueprint.
  2. Ensure they effectively prioritise working on multiple customer initiatives to the maximum benefit of Britvic and our customers
  3. Support creation of the category roadmap for allocated customer and identify key actions to execute
  4. Input to the creation of distribution, range and space targets by customer that deliver against market maps and regularly measure progress against these.
  5. Ensure tactics within the plan are executed in store. Evaluate the impact & ensure that learnings feed into future planning & activation across the channel.
  6. Support the Senior Category Manager in the development of category selling stories and tailor them for your customer, incorporating customer level shopper / consumer insight. 
  7. Support delivery of customer immersions designed to create solutions & strategies for key customers.
  8. Build customer relationships & delivery solutions to influence external measure of category success with improved results in the Advantage Group Survey.
  9. Work closely with Channel Insight manager to build BSD shopper understanding (specifically for Convenience & PFS) & ensure that this is applied in the development of the category plan & execution of in-store activity
  10. Champion customer specific data, especially loyalty data where this exists across the channel, to add value to initiative development

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

 

  1. Has operated within an FMCG environment (ideally within Convenience/Retail) 
  2. Practical experience in either a commercial, buying or category management role with experience of managing customer relationships an advantage

  5. Knowledge of external market information (Nielsen / IRI / Kantar / Loyalty Platforms)


You may be suitable for this role if you have a category background across the convenience or retail space, or you have a commercial background with convenience awareness (Sales and Business Development)
