Job description
What you will do in your working day
Responsibilities as training progresses:
- Accounting
- Preparation of accounts files, for review by manager
- Production of self-assessment and corporation tax returns and VAT returns
- To proactively bring matters to the attention of the managers
- To deliver excellent client service face to face, on the telephone and in writing
- To draft letters to clients
- To organise own time and workload
- Bookkeeping
- Carrying out all aspects of Bookkeeping tasks for a portfolio of clients, using QuickBooks and Xero software
- Accounts Payable and Receivable credit controls
- Processing pre-prepared payroll information, reconciling net wages, PAYE, and pension control accounts
- Keeping bank, credit card and petty cash accounts up to date.
- Bank reconciliations
- Processing expenses
- Liaising with clients and their suppliers via email and telephone
- Preparing monthly accounts to trial balance
- Preparation of VAT Returns under both the standard and flat rate schemes.
- Advising clients on keeping simple spreadsheets, VAT schemes and using basic features in QuickBooks and Xero.
Full training will be given in order to complete the above duties to the best of your ability. Boom Training and Simon Winnard & Co will provide ongoing support and guidance throughout your apprenticeship.
The training you will be getting
AAT Level 3 Assistant Accountant, which includes:
- You'll have four Level 3 AAT exams including advanced bookkeeping, Final Accounts Preparation, and more
- Modules covering Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviours in Finance
- You'll have a personal tutor to guide you through your training
- You will attend 1:1 sessions with your tutor every 2/3 weeks
- End Point Assessment (online)
- Occasional group classes with other learners
- Access to MyAAT for learning material
- AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting
- AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping (if required)
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
Yes, a full-time position will be available at the end of the apprenticeship, subject to general economic conditions and candidate performance.
Yes, further training for a full ACCA accounting qualification. Study package available. We encourage team members to achieve the highest level of qualification that they can.
