Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercially strong and analytical Head of Commercial Finance to join an established team.
As the Head of Commercial Finance you will directly report into the CFO, the primary purpose of this role is to business partner the Retail and Buying teams to support the delivery of the Group's commercial objectives in a profitable way.
Key Responsibilities
- Support strategic decision–making by providing high quality, accurate and timely business information. Be able to understand, think through, and communicate the implications of decisions on financial metrics, including the P&L and cash flow
- Analyse and interpret large volumes of financial and operational data and draw conclusions. Use findings to provide an appropriate levelof objective challenge to stakeholders, including the identification of risks and opportunities
- Own the forecast and budget process with support from the Financial Controller to ensure commercial risks and opportunities are highlighted and delivered / mitigated
- Support the Retail Team in driving Sales, Margin and Profitability through financial analysis and constructive challenge
- Support the buying team to understand financial performance and opportunities
- Develop and deliver accurate store profitability
- Take ownership to create and manage internal information for benchmarking analysis.
- Take the lead role in the development of key investment and capital decisions including tracking return on investment
- Support the month end process through delivery of insight and analytics as well as owning any parts of the month end that relate to
- commercial areas e.g. rebates
Candidate profile to be successful for the role of Head of Commercial Finance
- CIMA/ACCA qualified with 3 years PQE.
- Analytical skills are essential to interpret complex operational data and financial models and to make recommendations to the business.
- Experience in a Retail Finance team.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with non–finance stakeholders, with an excellent ability to build relationships, communicate and service stakeholders with their requirements.
- Pro–activity and reactivity, combined with a strong sense of constructive challenge, thereby assisting Commercial and Business
- Development teams in building solutions.
- Flexible and pragmatic, able to deal with complexity, and present information in a clear coherent way to both financial and non–financial stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural awareness, and demonstrated ability to challenge assumptions and articulate risks and alternative scenarios.
- Quick learner, enjoys new challenges, and fast paced environment with short timelines.
