Job Title: Head of Wills, Trusts and Probate
Job description: We are working with a law firm in Merseyside who is looking for an experienced Private Client Solicitor to join their firm as the Head of Wills, Trusts and Probate.
You will be responsible for the professional lead, legal training, and supervision of the Wills, Trusts and Probate team and delivery of a professional service by the teams to external and internal clients. You will achieve the required operational, financial and client service performance standards as well as fully contributing to the overall successful departmental and firm performance, effective business development and case intake.
The successful candidate will be dealing with:
- Supervising case loads of all Wills, Trusts and Probate fee earners in the performance of their case work
- Taking responsibility for devising, implementing and delivering a structured and ongoing training programme to ensure that all fee earners and support staff have best practice standard knowledge of relevant law and practice
- Conducting appraisals and setting objectives and targets for Wills, Trusts and Probate team
- Supervising Wills, Trusts and Probate staff in the application of anti-money laundering, source of funds and other due diligence requirements, authorising matters to proceed, including (but not limited to) property transactions
- Devising and implementing appropriate strategy to ensure that the Wills, Trusts and Probate team operates to maximum effect in the management of case working, recovery of fees and a high level of client service
Essential Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of law relevant to wills, trusts and probate with knowledge of relevant statutory duties
- Excellent verbal, written, communicational and numerical skills
- Competent in the use of Microsoft word and outlook
- At least 7 years’ experience of conduct of wills, trusts and probate work
- Previous experience supervising and mentoring staff
- Experience of meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
- Experience of direct contact with clients, face to face or over the phone, including investigating and resolving client complaints
- Admitted solicitor or legal executive or equivalent
- Proficiency in using provided PC equipment and operating the firms system to a high standard
- Managerial experience
- Solicitor, STEP or Licensed Conveyancer qualification
Salary: Negotiable
Hours per Week: 35 hours, Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
