We are very excited to be working in partnership with an Outstanding Secondary School in Sutton to appoint a Second in Charge of English.
Commencing in September 2024, the successful English Teacher will need to demonstrate they are a skilled classroom practitioner, who is innovative, passionate about education and hard-working.
The 2ic role will include co-managing the delivery of English across Key Stages 3-5.
Outstanding English Teachers ready to take on their first leadership role or someone looking for a new challenge with proven leadership experience, will both be considered!

English Teacher [Second in Department – 2ic] | Job Description: - To be accountable for the quality of teaching and learning, student progress, development and climate within the English Faculty to ensure outcomes in line with targets
- To develop and enhance the teaching practice of other English Teachers
- To ensure the provision of a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum
- To provide and safeguard the welfare of students
- To deputise for the Head of English in their absence
English Teacher [Second in Department – 2ic] | Person Description: - QTS and a relevant undergraduate degree of 2:1 or higher
- Ability to teach across the three Key Stages
- Proven track record of outstanding teaching and learning
- Inspiring and enthusiastic subject specialist
- Committed and imaginative teacher
- Strong communicator with the ability to motivate the immediate school community and the extended wider community
