Planning Enforcement Assistant

Directorate: Resources
Department: Planning and Regeneration
Salary: Grade D - £24,702 to £27,334 (pro rata) per year
Hours: 18.5 hours per week
Type: Permanent
Location: Town Hall, Derby Road, Long Eaton, Derbyshire, NG10 1HU

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well organised individual to investigate complaints regarding potential minor breaches of planning control and pro-actively monitor new development to reduce the potential for harm to amenity and to ensure compliance with the legislative and planning policy framework. Supporting the Planning Officer (Enforcement) in their duties, you will carry out site inspections, review planning histories, and review the legislative background to investigate the validity of planning complaints. You will maintain and update the council’s planning enforcement records.

About You
The post requires excellent organisation skills, and you will need to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in dealing with customers and an aptitude for maintaining and reviewing detailed records. You will need to be assertive at times, have sound communication skills and the ability to explain facts clearly to a varied customer base. You will frequently need to work on your own initiative both in the office and on sites throughout the Borough.

You will be a team player, show initiative and have an appreciation of good customer service.
