Job description

Working on the Docklands Light Railway network. The post holder will be expected to provide leadership and direction to our Premises team, including leading on the Premises asset strategy, maintenance, fault response and management of our specialist providers. You will also be responsible for managing a budget of up to £2 million so experience in this area is required. As a people manager, you will manage and motivate your team to ensure they meet set targets and comply with company processes. We are looking for someone who can embrace and lead change where necessary, and who can inspire others to deliver our shared vision. Key Accountabilities Responsible for the Premises maintenance business unit in terms of safety, asset performance, reliability and budgets. Achieve all set targets including; Manage the delivery of the maintenance & fault response programme within the agreed set targets. Ensure compliance with all the management standards and procedures as mandated. Responsible for the performance of the Premises team. Manage & develop the team to meet set targets and compliance with company processes. Ensure consistency of delivery of performance and asset reliability of the Premises assets. Meet aspirations and meet the client’s performance regime, CFR. Implement and initiate safety processes & initiatives to reduce incidents and injuries to the workers/contractors and the public on the railway. Investigate faults and incidents. Produce reports and initiate procedural changes to ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the railway. Implement DLR management systems for all the selected contractors. Administer the Contract to ensure the employed Contractor delivers on obligations. Responsible for drafting the Annual Asset Management Plan for Premises and compiling the suggested Capital Works Plan 1yr & 3 yr. Set the direction for continuous improvement & management of performance criteria to ensure compliance with contractual obligations for the Premises assets. Review performance of the work group and instigate measures as necessary to improve business efficiency, in line with contractual obligations and expectations. Responsible for depot safety and environmental compliance, site inspection of common areas, liaison with stake holders and management of remedial works on site. Working with others within DLR, to ensure that managerial time and expenditure is focused on areas of highest risk and to consider time management and expenditure when making decisions in collaboration. To participate in the change management process and provide clear and committed leadership in liaising effectively with other team members. Ensure effective communications and consistency of approach; sharing of business vision, receiving feedback, defining training needs to further the personal development and competency of members of the team, including succession planning within the Engineering business area. Essential Sound grasp of managing an engineering department, working to set programmes and budgets. Degree or Diploma in an Engineering subject, or equivalent. Basic asset technical knowledge of the department’s assets. Driving licence. Knowledge & experience of managing safety. Desirable Professional Engineering status recognised by the Engineering Council.
