Job description
What you will do in your working day
As a growing business we are looking to recruit and train our next generation of CNC engineers. You will be highly trained to work in the world of manufacturing. The initial training will be broad based and could lead to a first appointment as a CNC Setter / programmer. This is a chance to train for a highly skilled engineering role within the business.
You will learn how to work with sliding and fixed head lathes, ensuring that components are produced efficiently and to a high-quality standard. You will undertake a structured training program of academic study and workshop training during your time at Pattern Fasteners Ltd to ensure you gain the correct skills and knowledge to support one of the leading fastener companies across the West Midlands.
Main Duties will include but not limited to:
- Take responsibility for themselves and others to ensure work is carried out safely
- Make full use of the training available at Pattern Fasteners Ltd
- Gain relevant skills and job knowledge throughout the apprenticeship
- Understand and interpret both in house and customers technical drawings
- Manufacturing to drawings and tight tolerances
- Setting CNC machines
- Programming CNC machines
- Promote good health and safety within the workplace
- Maintain a good standard of housekeeping
- Regularly attend production meeting with the management team
The training you will be getting
Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us, which are fully paid for, including:
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham in year 1
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
- Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
- In house training in line with your requirements
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- Apprenticeships will typically lead to a skilled role as a CNC setter / programmer gaining full time employment with future growth and development
- We could also have potential opportunities in production engineering and technical sales for the right candidate
- Role as supervisor / manager possibly in the future if that role arises for the correct candidate
