Job description
West Sussex Alternative Provision College are seeking Clerk to Governors to start as soon as possible. We are looking to appoint someone to join our College.
West Sussex Alternative Provision College (WSAPC) is an educational establishment based across the county on Seven separate sites. We provide education to young people who are not accessing mainstream education. We aim to provide a caring and positive environment where all are valued and supported through a personalised curriculum which challenges and inspires individuals to achieve their potential.
The clerk will need to be flexible on times and will be employed on a casual contract that he/she will claim for the actual agreed and worked. We estimate the requirement will be 6 hours per month.
The post duties are:
Attending meetings
Termly briefings/sharing information
Liaising with the Headteacher, Chair of Governors and Committee Chairs
Writing up the minutes for each meeting
Governing Body general administration
The main purpose of the role is to:
Provide advice to the governing body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters. New regulations require governing bodies to have regard to advice from the clerk in regards to exercising the governing body functions
Provide effective administrative support to the governing body and its committees
Ensure the governing body is properly constituted
Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements
The successful candidate needs:
Good organisational and administrative skills
Experience of preparing agendas and taking minutes at meetings
A good level of IT skills
Good basic literacy and numeracy skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and be keen to work as part of a team
