The Role
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and development of electrical systems with IOT capabilities, new IP blocks, and novel approaches to old problems. The successful candidate will work closely with our other engineers across various disciplinesto derive and specify requirements, perform safety/security analyses, perform various engineering studies and help publishing our requirements and systems diagrams internally.
Some of the things that you might be involved in include:
- Product safety and reliability: Assist the systems team in performing various safety analysis, such as HARA (Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and calculating reliability metrics.
- Product security: Assist in clarifying and communicating the security requirements of the embedded software and parameterisation tool to the respective design teams.
- Product compliance: Work with our internal compliance engineer to derive and translate relevant compliance requirements to implement them into our requirements management system.
- Requirements management: Continually improve the quality and functionality of our requirements management system. Assist in cross-functional alignment by recording instructional video's, create processes and communicate with the wider design teams.
- Team work: Being a representative for the systems team during squad meetings
- Verification support: Support the verification team in clarifying requirements and linking dependencies
- Production/marketing support: Communicate product specifications and requirements for testing, packaging, labelling and documentation.
Please note; this role is located in Christchurch but we are open to someone working hybrid in both the office and from home.
About You
We think you’ll be a fit for this role if you have:
- At least 2 years professionalexperience working in a design environment in a multi-disciplinary engineering role
- Tertiary Qualifiedin Engineering, or equivalent
- Broad experience in the electrical and electronics industry underpinning an ability to foresee and appreciate the impact of design decisions across electrical infrastructure, hardware, software, communications, safety & security.
- Experience in robust design lifecycle and risk management approaches such as Hazard Analysis, FMEA, FTA
- A natural curiosity for multi-domain engineering challenges, e.g. experience with robotics
- Basic applied programming and scripting skills
- The ability to read schematics and knowledge of PCB design
- Some mechanical knowledge
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills
