The role Thorn Lighting are recruiting for a Laboratory Test Technician to join our testing department. You will test luminaires in accordance with the relevant specifications.
The role is in the testing labs at our manufacturing site in Spennymoor and would be ideal for someone with a technical background and experience in a laboratory in a similar type of environment. If you do not have experience of testing luminaires we can train this element but experience of testing methods and principles would be required.
What You'll Do: - Set up tests on luminaires to measure electrical quantities and temperature and assess electrical and mechanical safety.
- Provide accurately written or verbal reports on the testing conducted.
- Provide technical support on the technical aspects of lighting products.
- Assemble and install luminaires, connect electrical wiring, design and make connection boxes.
- Enter appropriate data accurately into Company database for local and accreditation test reports.
- Assist with milestone assessment reviews in support of product development.
- Work within project, quality, maintenance and custom teams.
Your profile
What You'll Need: - GCSE’s (A*-C/equivalent) in mathematics and science.
- HNC qualification in a relevant Engineering subject.
- Strong IT competency particularly MS word and excel.
- Good communications skills.
- Experience with photometric measurement, electromagnetic compatibility measurement and equipment calibration.
