Job description

Job Title : Physiotherapist – Dundee United FC Women

Place of Work : Tannadice Park, Tannadice Street, Dundee, DD3 7JW

Status : Service Agreement, Part-time hours

Reporting to : DUFCW Head Coach, Head of Medical, Head of Football Operations

Start Date :  ASAP

Purpose:

To provide lead medical services to the Dundee United Football Club Women’s Team at weeknight training and matchdays

Main Responsibilities and Duties: 

· To provide medical services to all players from Dundee United Football Club Women

· To provide leadership, administrative and management services in relation to all DUFCW medical requirements

· To provide, manage and coordinate medical cover for development and all academy squads training sessions, matches and tours.

· To assess, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate all injuries and illnesses, analysing and designing the safest and quickest strategy to ensure a full return to training.

· To monitor and assess all players for their fitness and injury status to train or play.

· To promote and protect the health and wellbeing of all players.

· To maintain excellent communication regarding injury status, rehabilitation strategies and return to training projections within the medical department and to the management team.

· To maintain detailed records for all activities in the department in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures

· To be responsible for all the DUFCW medical supplies and equipment stock

· To consult with medical staff of loan and international players to ensure they are informed whilst on loan or international duty.

· To undertake continuous professional development

· Be actively involved in an interdisciplinary approach of working within the department that includes close links to all areas of the club.

· To provide support to the Dundee United FC medical department

· To liaise with the Head of Medicine concerning all medical/health related matters for academy or development players when needed

· Contribute to the departments strategies and pro-actively seek out innovative ideas.

· Actively engage with the day to day running of the medical department

Qualifications and Training: 

· BSc or MSc Physiotherapy

· Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

· Current advanced resuscitation and emergency aid qualification

· Evidence of an extensive and structured CPD portfolio – including post graduate qualifications showing a range of clinical skills e.g. manipulative therapy, movement dysfunction assessment, real time ultrasound, soft tissue mobilisation/manipulation, acute injury management, acupuncture.

· Valid full driver licence

· At least three years experience in the provision of medical services to elite athletes, which includes work with high performance teams or squads.

· Working experience in the support and preparation of developing elite athletes, with specific expertise in injury diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation

· Experience in the provision of pitch-side medical assessment and treatment, including emergency sports trauma.

· Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment, incorporating all aspects of football medicine and science.

· Set and maintain exacting standards of work performance and deliver quality consistently and efficiently.
