The Role
Duties of the Senior Planning Consultant can include but are not limited to:
- Communicating with clients to understand objectives and confidently advise on the most appropriate strategies
- Providing detailed advice, including recommendations, proposals, and terms of engagement
- Working closely with other members of the team in the preparation and submission of applications and supporting documents
- Representing clients at planning committee, public meetings and appeals
- Developing great relationships with stakeholders
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest legislative and policy developments
- Managing and mentoring other members of the team
Projects would include
- Barn conversion schemes
- Residential development (small and medium plots)
- Class Q conversions and superseding with full planning
- Certificates of lawfulness
- Appeals
- Rural workers dwellings
- Agricultural and equestrian schemes
- Diversification and rural commercial projects
- Glamping and tourism
Required Skills
- MRICS or RTPI
- Is an experienced planning consultant, keen to play a role in the development of the business and our planning services
- Really understands the planning system and how it can be applied strategically
- Loves problem solving and isn’t afraid of a challenge
- Has an interest in rural affairs and understanding of development context in the open countryside
- Is a natural ‘people person’: confident, friendly, likeable and who inspires confidence
