Network Engineer
£45,000
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer to join our busy network team has arisen. Working closely with the Lookers network team, this contract role will be primarily to support network project across the Lookers dealerships. Must have deep understanding of Fortinet and Cisco routing and switching technologies to NSE 4 and CCNP experience level (formal qualifications not essential).
Minimum 3 years proven experience in deploying the following networking and security infrastructure solutions:
· Design, deployment and support of Fortinet firewalls including FortiManager, FortiAnalyser & FortiNAC
· Design, deployment and support of Cisco switches and routers
· Design, deployment and support of Meraki switches, security devices and wireless devices
· The ability to complete maintenance and firmware upgrade activities on the technologies listed above
· Strong knowledge and understanding of Infrastructure Security (ACLs, ACS, VRFs, Vlans)
· Strong knowledge and understanding of network management tools (SNMP, Solarwinds, PRTG)
· Strong knowledge and understanding of MPLS, SD-WAN, VPN and resilient WAN technologies
· Strong knowledge and understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
General tasks include:
· The design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current network environment
· The configuration, implementation and support of firewalls, routing, switching and wireless environments
· 3rd line network support for complex incidents and problems
· Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance
· Undertaking network fault investigations using information from multiple sources
· Production of network support documentation and drawings
· Securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies
· The support and administration of firewall environments in line with IT security policy
· Remote support for on-site engineers
· Capacity management and audit of IP addressing
· Liaising with project management teams, third-line engineers, service desk, field engineers and 3rd parties on a regular basis
· On-Call out of hours support (currently 1 week in 5)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong o rganisation and prioritisation skills that can adapt to changing priorities. Astute problem-solving skills – with the ability to analyse data to reach conclusions along side being w ell organised and methodical approach to work – most importantly seeing tasks through to completion.
