The role
We are looking for a Part Time Positive Behaviour Support Worker to join the All Age Disabilities, Positive Behaviour Support Team, 3 days a week for a fixed term.
The All Age Disabilities, Positive Behaviour Support Team deliver specialist outreach support within the family home or support settings with the aim of increasing independence and quality of life for young people and supporting families or carers to develop skills and understanding in supporting people with needs related to learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour.
The aim of this support is to support parents and family carers to develop confidence and understanding in implementing behaviour and communication strategies at home. We will do this by offering functional behavioural assessment, consultation and direct work within the home or locality family hubs and making recommendations for behavioural/communication interventions.
The team also deliver training to families and professionals.
About you:
We are looking for candidates with experience of working with children, young people and/or adults with a learning disability and/or autism who display behaviours that challenge. Good communication and interpersonal skills are important for this post as you will be required to work with a range of professionals as well as families/carers.
Knowledge of disabilities and their impact, as well as knowledge of and experience in using Positive Behaviour Support or Applied behaviour Analysis interventions is important.
We are keen to hear from people with enthusiasm for working with people with disabilities and with the required experience and skills.
Additional details
Part Time, 21 hours over 3 days per week (exact working pattern to be agreed with service).
The role is fixed term for 12 months. Any internal staff would need to gain agreement from your substantive line manager if considering this is as a secondment opportunity.
Please note a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required at enhanced level.
As a frontline role and service, candidates will be expected to work in borough. This includes attending the office and visiting families and placements.
