Job description

Job overview

We are looking for a high-calibre professional to play a leading role in the delivery of key financial aspects of the Trust's Strategic Development Programme and Replace and Refresh capital programme, on an initial 12 month fixed term basis.

The Strategic Development Programme is probably the most ambitious of its type being undertaken by any foundation trust and includes a range of complex projects, including, for example recently the Trust's Phase 4 development, including NHS and Private Proton Beam Therapy services and other commercial and investment opportunities and NHS tenders, including supporting the development of the Trust's Private Patients strategy.

Achievement of this purpose will include:
• Coordinating inputs into the Trust's annual planning processes and external submissions (e.g. to NHSE/I);
• Supporting the development and maintaining of the Trust's Long Term Financial Modelling;
• Supporting the delivery of business cases, including achievement of internal and external approvals as necessary;
• Providing effective financial management support during the implementation and initial go-live phase of key projects (including transformational projects)

The post holder will report to the Senior Finance Manager - Capital and Projects.

Main duties of the job

You will be highly numerate and naturally use your analytical skills to move quickly to the heart of problems and help UCLH improve the care it provides to patients.

The role offers the opportunity to work with all clinical teams, have regular contact with executive directors and input to a range of complex challenges and improvement opportunities across the organisation; you'll therefore need to be sophisticated in your communication and comfortable describing complex problems in straightforward ways to senior audiences.

You will be known for delivering results in the face of a demanding agenda.
You will support the development of complex financial analysis/models supporting the economic and finance sections of key strategic business cases.

This will require the post-holder to undertake model development personally or may involve delegating detailed modelling assignments to other team members, or potentially to external advisers. You will be involved in the analysis, review and challenge of business cases developed by the clinical boards before submission to the Trust's Finance and Investment Committee, ensuring adherence to the Trust's Investment Policy and supporting them in amending the case as required.

You will also support the development of the Trusts long term financial model, provide support to procurement, contracting and partnerships projects and will support in the delivery of the aims of the Trust and the wider integrated care system.
