Job description
Based in Guildford (WGUK), our team is looking for a highly motivated and talented Lead Technical Artist to come in right at the start of a new and exciting Unannounced title.
The right person for the role will be a driven self-starter who focusses on personal development and that of the team they will help build. With several years of proven experience as a technical artist, they will work closely with the rest of the team to build robust art pipelines and cutting-edge toolsets for use in the studio and by OS partners within Unreal and take responsibility for large sections of the game. They will be a communication bridge between artists and engineers when needed, so friendly communication skills are paramount.
The role is in-house, however there is flexibility for hybrid work if desired. Initially working closely with a small team of dedicated developers, you will be responsible for pushing the technical boundaries of the game development process.
We are looking for someone with a sense of humor alongside a hard work ethic, who will integrate seamlessly into the team and represent our strong culture.

What will you do?
• Working in the Guildford studio with the core development team
• Lead the development of and pro-actively improve the art tools pipeline
• Take responsibility for the delivery of art and help manage expectation
• Help design, construct, document and implement pipeline procedures
• Prototype new techniques and processes within UE5+ utilizing all the latest tools
• Help onboard and support both inhouse and off-site development partners with delivery tools
• Collaborate closely with the Art Director to deliver innovation and drive quality across the team
• Manage planning within this discipline
• Hire and supervise a dedicated TA team, supporting them with regular 121s and personal dev plans
• Investigate and develop shaders in conjunction with graphics programmers
• Assist in planning within this discipline
What are we looking for?
• Extensive and proven production art experience in the gaming industry
• At least 3+ published games
• Outstanding knowledge of Python or similar language
• Exceptional technical knowledge of 3ds Max, Maya and other DCC tools
• A deep understanding of Unreal development experience with at least one released title
• Expertise in scene optimization
• Diligent self-management around both individual and team tasks, schedule and budgets
• Strong organizational skills with adherence to optimization and asset management
What additional skills will help you stand out?
• Expertise in developing large scale environments in Unreal
• A 3d asset production background such as vehicles and or environments
• Experience in other scripting and programming languages (C# / C++)
• Ability to identify and resolve issues within art production processes
• A relevant degree
• Samples of your work displaying tool development
• Passion for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends
