The successful applicant will have the following duties:

• 1:7 on weekday and weekend on calls (cross covering general paediatrics and neonatology).
• Neonatal Simulation Lead (0.25PA per week)

The post holder will be expected to actively engage in service development and clinical governance activities within Neonates, during their SPA time, in addition to CPD activities. The post holder will participate in the annual appraisal for consultants, as stipulated by the GMC.
We are keen to encourage candidates with special interests, which are complementary to the department.
The department has recently been rated as ‘good’ on all domains in the last CQC report (2018).
The post holder will cover neonatal attending consultant duties Monday – Friday 0800-1800 for the equivalent of 6.4 weeks per year. The attending consultant (consultant of the week) covers the Neonatal Unit, Transitional Care Unit, postnatal wards and Labour Ward.
In addition to attending duties, the successful applicant will deliver the equivalent of 60 Labour Ward / Postnatal 0900-1200 shifts per year on weekdays dates to be agreed by mutual consent.
On call commitment will be 1:7 weekdays / weekends covering both general paediatrics and neonates, which attracts an average of 1.5PA per week plus on call supplement.
There will be a commitment to deliver one general paediatric clinic and one Integrated Paediatric Community Clinic (IPCC) per week on non-attending weeks. Each clinic attracts 1PA which consists of 3 hours of direct patient contact and 1 hour of administration time.
This post does not have consultant of the week duties in General Paediatrics. A draft timetable is attached, which is subject to negotiation and change depending on the need and clinic space availability.
