Job description
Our client is looking for an Independent Reviewing Officer/Conference Chair to join their Local Authority.
You will be part of a team that is dedicated and committed to achieving good outcomes for children and providing an inclusive service. As an Independent Reviewing Officer/Conference Chair you will be responsible for ensuring that care planning for children is robust, with specific focus around improved outcomes for the child and ensuring that the voice of the child is at the centre of all care planning.

Responsibilities of you as the Independent Reviewing Officer/Conference Chair:
- To chair and monitor Child Protection Case Conferences, Statutory Reviews, Adoption Reviews, Pathway Plan Reviews of children within an anti-discriminatory framework maintaining the focus on young people.
- To take delegated responsibility as required for chairing strategy meetings convened under the All-Wales Child Protection Procedures relating to professional abuse and child sexual exploitation.
- To continue the development and maintenance of the high standards expected of this service, and challenge poor practice if it arises.
- To work in conjunction with the Social Services Management Team and all staff to ensure that child protection and Children Looked After systems are effective, and child protection conferences and Children Looked After Reviews are timely and carried out to a high standard.
- To ensure the effective participation of children, young people, their parents and wider families in Child protection conferences and review meetings for Children Looked After.
Requirements of you as the Independent Reviewing Officer/Conference Chair:
- Social Care Wales registration
- Dip SW/CQSW/Social Work Degree
- Experience of chairing complex meetings.
- Experience of managing complex Child Protection and Children
Looked After work.
- Expert knowledge of current and relevant childcare legislation,
guidance and procedures. - A full UK driving licence
- DBS clearance
- Authority to work in the UK

Salary scale: £39,186 - £43,421 d.o.e Plus £3k yearly supplement payments
